MAINE MAVERICKS SCHOLARSHIP
Maine Mavericks is offering a $500.00 scholarship to any club member who will be attending or is currently attending college and meets the requirements listed below.

Be a Maine Mavericks Inc. member for 3 or more consecutive years in good standing.

Be a graduated high school senior or currently enrolled college student.

Be able to provide proof of college acceptance or tuition bill.
Applications will be reviewed by the Board Members of Maine Mavericks Inc. If a current Board member has a family member applying for the scholarship, they must excuse themselves from the review process. Scholarships are awarded at the Annual Awards Banquet.
Application Deadline is September 1st of each year.
Scholarship History
The Scholarship is in honor of Dee Y Moore, who founded Maine Mavericks in 1965 from his kitchen in Maine, NY. He was the clubs "first" first foreman. Dee Y was known as the gentleman cowboy, always showing with a dress shirt and tie. His kindness to his horses was recognized by many, he would often dismount after a run and sprint for the gate and his horse would follow him without being led. He rode nationally in the Paint and Pinto arenas and at the age of 77 while competing in Tulsa, OK he was honored at the National Show and was made and honorary OKie and given the key to the city of Tulsa.

Applicants will need to write a essay stating why you should be considered for this award and describe what horses and Maine Mavericks has done for you.
Essays must be typed and doubled spaced and contain a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 750 words. Essays must be submitted in a sealed envelope and mailed to:
